MADIRAN 2014
The 2014 Madiran from Château de Perron stands out as a powerful and expressive wine with excellent aging potential. Visually, it displays a deep purple hue; on the nose, an explosion of black and red fruits (blackcurrant, raspberry, wild berries) evolves into notes of undergrowth and refined spice (white pepper, curry).
The attack on the palate is direct, followed by a menthol freshness that balances a significant yet velvety tannic structure. The aromatic length is remarkable, with a slightly astringent but well-integrated finish. Praised by the press (Le Point special wines, Bettane & Desseauve, La Tulipe Rouge), this vintage illustrates the aging potential of Madiran wines: it can be enjoyed now after decanting but will gain even more harmony in the cellar for a few more years. Pairings: game, red meats in sauce, rich stews, and aged cheeses. Serving temperature: 16–18°C.
